November

Okay, I just put up pics from September, October and November.  I have been so terrible at keeping up with the blog lately.  I feel badly as things change by the day around here and so what excited us a couple months ago, is now old news.  So, forgive me if there are things that I just skim over, or don't even mention at all!

Anyway...Sydney is just growing up so fast!  She is now almost 14 months old and we just can't believe it.  We are so in love with her it should be illegal.

She started crawling in September sometime, just before her birthday.  We thought she was going to be a scooter for life!  Shortly after that she became a pro at pulling herself up on anything that was near her.  She walks, but only if she is holding onto something or someone.  And just now in the last couple of weeks she climbs- see below.  Oh, and of course, we can't forget the stairs.  One day after her nap she crawled over to the stairs and just started going up them.  I was in the other room and Brian called to me saying she was going up the stairs.  I assumed he just meant that she was trying to get up on the first step, but by the time I came over, she was already up to the middle landing!  We had never practiced or anything.  It was as if she had been doing it all along!  The fact that things just "click" and come together without any warning is just crazy and so cool.

Silly Mom that I am...I asked her to help me with laundry and then left the room for less than 2 seconds...and this is what I came back to...all the folded clothes on the floor!  As I said, silly Mom!

She is so beautiful!  We are so blessed!  She is just so beautiful on the inside and out...we couldn't have asked for a better little girl!

A good girl still has her moments I suppose.  :)  Auntie Alissa, Buku (Uncle Buck...haha), and little Rudder came to stay with us for a few days before leaving state and Sydney wasn't sure how to handle Mom holding another baby.  She eventually got over it, but until she did, it was pretty comical.  Lil' Rudd Rudd could have cared less!

I can climb now!

Rudder left his vibrating chair here for Sydney to play with.  She loves climbing into it.  I was watching her one day and she climbed in and sat back, then leaned forward and pushed the button that makes the chair vibrate.  It was so funny!  Now we are working on trying to get out of it with no additional assistance!

Playing Daddy's new Monopoly Wii game.

Oh, camera's out...gotta take a break to be center of attention.

"Hold on, Mom...Daddy's eyes are closed...now's my chance to get ahead!"

This video below is about 4 minutes.  I wasn't going to put it up as I'm sure not everyone will find it as hilarious as we did/do, but I decided to let you be the judge of that.  Anyway, Sydney lately will grab any item of clothing or towels...or in this case a few wash cloths, and put them on her head, or over her head, and will crawl around like that all day, every day.  It is hilarious to say the least.  I didn't think about it at the time, but after a few people saw it and remarked on her simulating putting on clothes, it dawned on me that that is probably what she is doing.  Who knows though...  She is a little weirdo, but she is our little weirdo and we are okay with that.  :)

Oh, and the video is sideways, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to turn it rightside up.  Sorry!

October

Sydney's first birthday: October 1, 2010.

Tucker is a seasoned pro when it comes to opening up presents...he felt it was his duty to show Sydney a thing or two.

This was our entertainment...Tucker opening Sydney's presents.  She had so much fun just watching him, she didn't care to open any at all.

She is a natural-born drummer.

Again, Tucker and her presents.

"What? This is how Tucker does it."

You get the idea...

Forget the Legos, I'll play peek-a-boo with the box!

"Uh, Dad...Mom doesn't ever give me food with fire on it..."

"Are we sure this is okay?"

"I think I would rather have my spinach, please."

"Help.  Anyone. I think this might have sugar in it...I've never had sugar...where's Mom?"

"Yep, definitely something suspicious about this..."

"Nevermind, I think I got it.  I can live with the sugar."

Now, if we only knew who was in her line of sight...NANNA!

This is funny because it was completely unintentional.  We were wiping her up and her hair just stuck in place.

Her favorite toy...  Several days after her birthday she accidentally put a hole in it.  Daddy promptly went out and bought her another one.  :)

Cheating at peek-a-boo.

Sydney's naps were a little off this day...I had put her down around 8:30, but not for good...I still wanted her to get up in a little bit.  Well, I eventually just went down to wake her and she was just not budging.  I opened the door, had the hallway light on, was rubbing her back, talking to her...nothing was working.  Finally, after the flash of the camera she opened her eyes and looked at me like I was committing a crime by waking her up.  How she could be comfortable like this, who knows!

Sydney checking out little Rudd Rudd's Yoda outfit.  (Halloween...hand-made by his mama!)

Happy girl!

Somebody not happy about having to wear a hat...and keep it on!

September

I decided to try out a new spot for the books that have pages that can be torn...  I walked out of the room and this is what I came back to.
Clapping.

Once her books were put in a tote, she thought that meant to go after the other books, of course.  Needless to say, those are now in a tote as well.

Hiding behind the chair playing with Tucker's toys.

Once she realized the chair moved when she pushed on it, this was her new favorite spot.

Family trip to the zoo.

Great Grandma Maxwell, GG for short, came to visit and meet Sydney.  They both enjoyed each other very much!

First time crawling...finally!

Keeping Sydney

Well, it's official.  We have decided to keep Sydney around a while longer.  She has become our pride and joy and we just can't get enough of her.  She is now 10 1/2 months old and getting bigger by the day.

We have been working so hard on crawling, but she just has no interest in it.  She would rather be walking.  I know, I know...developmentally it is better for their brain and so on to crawl, but I don't know what else to do to get her on all fours.  She can get from one side of the room and back on her butt or on her feet if you lend a helping hand, but you put her on her hands and knees and she just looks at you as if you are crazy to think she would even consider that as an option.

With scooting in full swing, the bright lights on the electronics, the magical prong holes on the outlets, and my knitting basket are actual destination points in the living room.  She has managed to make both Brian and I say a choice word or two about our cable connection thinking it was going out, when in actuality, she got ahold of the clicker and decided to see what buttons do what.  That's always a fun game.

She has added a new word to her vocabulary, Papa.  (although you try to get her to say it to the actual one and only and she clams up)  She tends to say Mama when she wants something...Dada in a wistful tone...and Lalalala when in her own little world...which is much of the time.  She is a pretty independent little girl and will sit and play until it is time to eat or nap and is just as content as can be.

She cracks us up all the time now.  Whether it be a look, an action, or just her plain talking, she is just so funny.

She really never warmed up to 'Spaz' the penguin pal.

Yes, definitely 'one of a kind'...or at least one of something...

Tucker was not in the mood to play...

Helping Mommy in the kitchen.

Tucker LOVES the new cheerio container and Sydney LOVES dumping them out just to get him to come 'round.  Gotta keep that cholesterol down!

New stuffed animals from GG!

Mommy won't.  Daddy might...  Nana and Papa WILL!  Gee, who is this shirt from?

She still has to have her diaper-changing pals, good ol' Larry and George.

Saturday morning with Grandma and Grandpa.

Grandma and Sydney playing Pat-a-Cake.

She is just too cute.

 Bedtime stories with Daddy.

She used to freeze when the camera came out.  Now she totally just hams it up.  I'm surprised the pictures came out semi straight, I was laughing so hard.

Another ham face.  She broke out into laughter right after the shot was taken.
