So many changes...

Every day brings something new when it comes to our beautiful little girl.  She is just changing right before us and it is so exciting.  She now rolls over from her back to her tummy.  She tries so hard to roll back the other way, but hasn't overcome the obstacle her arm brings!  Anyway, she also reaches for things on purpose now, and of course, whatever she reaches for and grabs goes right into her mouth...which, in and of itself, is pretty exciting-- seeing just how her hand-eye coordination is rapidly developing.  She recognizes certain play things we do with her-- for example, I will hold my hand up in the air and wiggle my fingers as I bring it closer to her, and then tickle her.  She used to just watch my hand, but now she starts smiling and scrunching up her neck in anticipation.  It's just unbelievable.

I could go on, but the point I just find fascinating is that she is just growing up.  She is turning into a little person and we are trying to really focus on each moment and not keep focusing on the future and what is yet to come.

Sydney keeps us laughing as well.  Sometimes she is so darn cute you can't do anything but laugh.  Last week I woke up to this chirping noise and as I sat up in bed, Brian was just lying back down and said "it's your daughter."  He had woken up to the same noise several minutes earlier and had gone to see what it was.  Sydney was sucking her thumb so hard that we could hear it in the other room, above all the fans...  I don't know what she was doing to that thumb to make it sound like birds chirping...and so loud, but I was surprised to see she still had it attached to her hand the next morning!

Another little funny thing she does is constantly stick out her tongue.  It is pretty cute.  She is drooling all the time though, and has now realized how much fun it is to take advantage of that drool and just spit and make bubbles with it.

We went in for her 4-month checkup last week and she is doing fantastic.  She now weighs 13.5 pounds and is 26.5 inches long!  She is going to shoot up past her older cousin, Dulce, who is 9 months and 28 inches long.  We are all anxious to see both girls together in April when we go down to celebrate Dulce's first birthday.

Sydney still blesses us with excellent sleep.  She sleeps for almost 10 uninterrupted hours on the dot every night.  She is beginning to have a nap pattern during the day as well...so, that has been nice too.  Everyone kept telling us not to get used to it, that it would change...but, it has been like this for 3 months now and I hate to say it, but I think we have stopped holding our breath.  Now that I say that, I probably just doomed us.  O-well.  She is such a happy baby when she gets up though.  She just lays there and talks to herself and when we go over to get her she is just all smiles.  It is so nice to have that.

Well, I will leave it at that for now.  Here are some pictures to finish the update off...

Happy New Year!!!

Ringing in the new year is so hard!

Spending some time with Papa on his way through up to the slope.

"Papa! What are you looking at on your computer?!"

New jammies from her BFF she hasn't met yet, Kylie Hess.

Alissa made this beautiful sweater for Sydney...  She grew out of it way too quickly.  Alissa wanted to see her in it and I said it was going to be a "fat guy in a little coat" scene...and sure enough, that's what it was!  Too funny.  (The third picture cracks me up!)

Veggietales was the only thing that would calm her down this particular evening.

Such a happy baby when she wakes up!

Awww...

Rolling over and having some tummy time.

Daddy trying to stay awake after a long night (at work...not home) to feed Sydney.  He wasn't very successful!

Sydney's new Bumbo from the Menos.  Now she can help out in the kitchen!
